Our beginner Beginner Hearts online cookie decorating class is the perfect way to explore your inner decorator and start your cookie journey off with a smile! With all the essentials for beginner bakers, you'll be spinning sugar and icing in no time! So go ahead, roll up your sleeves and get those sprinkles ready - your sweet treat awaits!

This set was designed with at-home beginner cookiers in mind, so it uses ONE consistency, JUST 3 colors (but I encourage you to use whatever color combo makes you happy!) and just one cookie cutter. Fewer colors, consistencies and cutters means less time prepping and less money spent on supplies. Yes, you heard that right! Now that's my kind of beginner class!

***

This 2 hour class recording is delivered as if it was a live class, so you're transported right into my energy and will finish the class having completed the entire set of cookies.

By purchasing the class, you'll have access to the class recording, as well as a 76 page workbook to make this cookie journey as seamless and fun as possible.

You will learn how to decorate (from start to finish) twelve cookies using a variety of techniques, including wet on wet (when you layer wet flood icing on top of wet flood icing, it dries flat!)

Skills covered in this class:

  • One consistency outline and flood
  • Working with tipless bags (and cutting tipless bags)
  • Piping and flooding with a thick flood
  • Working with sprinkles
  • Wet on wet technique
  • Basic line work with a flood consistency
  • Crackle technique

The cutter used in this class is the 3.25" basic heart cutter from Brighton Cutters.  (The workbook also provides alternative cutter options, including options from Amazon.)

This class was such a blast to do, I am not a fan of sugar cookies, but I have to say I really liked these! The cookies and delicious lemon icing came out perfectly.

The one piece of advice I would have to others is to be absolutely positive you have the right consistency before bagging your icing! I was preparing everything for 6 of us and I bagged the icing thinking it was good to go, but it was too thick. After making 18 bags sitting down and getting started I really didn’t feel like rebagging, so we just went with it. We ended up going rouge with our cookie designs since the icing was too thick to do a lot of the techniques, but it mattered non the less because it was still a ton of fun and everything tasted great. Can’t wait to try another class!

So Much Fun!!

What a wonderful class to introduce me to cookie decorating. I had so much fun decorating the cookies. My icing was a little thin and I feel that this led to a lack of control when outlining, a lesson learned. I enjoyed it so much I purchased 4 more classes and have already practiced half of the Flowers class. I am very proud of my first attempt at decorating cookies. One of my kitties stood on one of them while they were drying, photo attached 😆

very happy with my purchase!

I bought this for my son and I to do for homeschooling. We have never decorated any cookies before ever and we did a great job the first time. I cant wait for us to use this pattern again on our round cookies next.

Beginner Hearts

I had intended to make these for Valentine's Day this year, but life happened and I just got around to making them this week. I made a batch with a bigger size heart - 3.75" and found them too big for me, so I made a second batch with smaller size heart - 2.75" and they worked way better - I felt more in control with the smaller size. Maybe I'll graduate to the bigger size with more practice! This class was fun in that it had more wet on wet technique which is always a challenge. I do love the crackle technique as well. Highly recommend this class!
