Our beginner BEGINNER HEARTS online cookie decorating class is the perfect way to explore your inner decorator and start your cookie journey off with a smile!
This set was designed with at-home beginner cookiers in mind, so it uses ONE consistency, JUST 3 colors (but I encourage you to use whatever color combo makes you happy!) and just one cookie cutter.
Fewer colors, consistencies and cutters means less time prepping and less money spent on supplies. Yes, you heard that right! Now that's my kind of beginner class!
Skill Level: Beginner

What you receive with purchase:
- Class video recording (delivered as if it was a live class, so you're transported right into my energy and will finish the class having completed the entire set of cookies)

A general guideline for skill level:
- Beginner: never worked with royal icing before (even if you're an experienced baker) or a handful of times
- Advanced Beginner: has worked with royal icing for +/- 6 months and sometimes gets the icing consistency right
- Intermediate: has worked with royal icing for 1 year+ and often gets the icing consistency right
My classes are designed for success *no matter* how much experience you have with royal icing. Whether you've never touched it before or you've been working with royal icing for years, you are SURE to impress all of your friends and family with your edible creations thanks to my detailed instructions and warm approach!
All of my cookie decorating classes include the same cookie and icing prep regardless of the skill level. While others differentiate skill level partly based on how much prep is provided, I provide the same prep regardless and differentiate skill level based on the techniques covered in the set and amount of decorations/tools required.

Yes! But please be aware that most of the recommended materials and required cookie cutters for our classes come from US-based small businesses or USA Amazon, which might incur larger shipping costs if you are acquiring them from outside the US.
If you would like to cut down on shipping costs for this reason, we would recommend purchasing one of the one “shape” classes as they require fewer individual cutters and may even be a generic shape that you could find at your local shop.
Our beginner level classes also require fewer tools and extra materials like sprinkles, etc. so that may be a lower shipping cost option as well.

This is my second set of Graceful Baker cookies I've decorated. I really liked that there was only a single icing consistency, as compared to my previous set, which used 3! As always, the instructions and video were so thorough and very helpful. I made these Valentines Heart Cookies to give as gifts to friends and family. Although I did the full set, I still had icing left over, so I made an additional half batch of cookies and then tried different color combinations based on the originals. I think they turned out pretty well! There was still icing left over, but hey, you can only give so many away, and I certainly don't need the sugar! Haha. In my photo, the right side are the originals and the left side were my permutations on the 2nd day.
Who knew there was so much information in decorating cookies? Grace did for sure and she has provided some of that information in a workbook, video and her blog. Her presentation makes you want to continue to take her additional classes to build onto what she has started with. I know I have much to learn. I’ve had a great time taking this class.
My daughter in law decided to do the beginner hearts class together. We had tried to decorate cookies on our own and were frustrated at our lack of success. We were thrilled after one class on how much we improved!
This is the second year I've followed Grace's easy-to-understand instruction in her Sweet Hearts class, and, this time around, I made two sets in two different color palettes. I cannot recommend Grace's classes enough. I especially appreciate how her teaching style makes me feel like mistakes and blunders are okay. For example, my medium piping consistency this time was a little too thin, but I pressed on and, even though the finished results on my borders are not as crisp as intended, I think they are acceptable and I am confident in gifting these cookies.
In the past couple of years I have purchased several classes and I've been happy with all of the results. I also like seeing the new classes Grace dreams up. There is truly something for everybody, at every skill level. If you have been on the fence about purchasing a class, just do it—you won't be disappointed!
